security specialists can become certified after meeting the necessary
educational requirements, gaining sufficient work experience, and passing an
exam. Commercial organizations, including ASIS International, offer
certification opportunities. The equivalent of a high school diploma is the
minimum education required for physical security specialists, but professionals
may also need classes or on-the-job training in security procedures, systems
and threat assessment. Certified Security Specialist jobs may be paid higher
than Non-Certified Specialist jobs.
