company. IT support specialists earn more in larger companies than in smaller
ones. At the top level, a help desk management can expect to make $ 51,033 a
year in a small business, $ 54,900 a year in a medium-sized business, and $
59,214 a year in a large business.
Desirable
skills
In
the IT field, some skills are highly sought after and companies often pay more
for candidates who have them. For example, a help desk administrator with
virtualization savvy, loosely defined as multiple operating systems running on
a single machine, can earn 10% more per year than average, reports Robert Half
Technology. Cisco network management experts also outperform most, earning 9%
more than average. The same can be said for support specialists with knowledge
of Linux or Windows 7, who increase salaries by 8% and 7% respectively.
